Mina Kim – North Gwinnett

Q: Please tell us about your current plans after high school. And what inspired you to choose this path?

A: I am attending Georgia State University and majoring in middle level education which is middle school and high school curriculum. My teachers inspired me as they made me enjoy school and learning.

 

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

A: My sister is currently pursuing a medical career and attends Georgia State as well. Her ultimate goal is to be a neurosurgeon.

 

Q: Where do you go to school?

A: North Gwinnett High School

 

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community? 

A: Taco Mac which is my go to place to eat with friends.

 

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

A: It’s a family and it is the Luney’s. They are my favorite people and they have the biggest heart for the community. They’re even sewing free face masks for people and they just amaze me every day.

 

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

A: South Korea, my family was supposed to go this summer, but corona happened and I just miss my family there and I know my family misses them too.

 

Q: What’s the best advice you ever received from a teacher? Who was the teacher?

A: “Don’t chase after what you’re passionate about; chase after what you’re willing to struggle for”, Mrs. Tran who made me realize my passion for education.

 

Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?

A: One Direction

 

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

A: Savannah Luney, she is my best friend and I can always rely on her when I’m dealing with hard things. We would most likely go to Chick Fil A.

 

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

A: It’s crazy how I’ve spent majority of my life with the same people at school and that we have been friends since even the second grade. Now, I get to see them grow and thrive in a new environment which is college.

 

Q: Favorite month? holiday? and best single day on the calendar?

A: December 31st (New Years Eve), it’s my birthday and the start of a new year!

 

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

A: My sister, Yena Kim

 

Q: If you could go back over your entire school career what is one thing you would do different?

A: I would be more outgoing and gotten to know more people. Freshman and sophomore year, I stayed close to my friend group and didn’t stray to do anything out of my comfort bubble.

 

Q: Who or what do you miss the most right now?

A: I miss going to school although I hate waking up at six am, but I miss seeing my teachers and my classmates.

 

Q: Were you involved in any sports or extra curricular activities?

A: North Gwinnett Colorguard/Winterguard and the North Gwinnett Marching Band

 

Q: What’s the first thing you want to do when this quarantine is over?

A: I would love to go to Lake Lanier with my best friends and just spend time together.
