Alexis Sereno – North Gwinnett

Q: Please tell us about your current plans after high school. And what inspired you to choose this path?

A: I plan to attend Mercer University in pursuit of a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. I was a student athletic trainer for the Varsity football team for the last four years and I was exposed to and practiced physical therapy, athletic training, and sports medicine. Through that program and internship, I chose physical therapy as my life’s passion.

 

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

A: I am the oldest child, I have 5 younger sisters. Including my parents, that makes us a family of 8. It’s crazy, but I wouldn’t want it any other way.

 

Q: Where do you go to school?

A: North Gwinnett High School

 

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community? 

A: I like Waffle House, Taco Mac and Chipotle

 

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

A: Doug Wardy, my mentor. He is the Athletic Trainer for North Gwinnett High School.

 

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

A: I would love to have been able to go on our Senior Trip. We would have been going to Italy and Greece.

 

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

A: Friends and Criminal Minds

 

Q: What’s the best advice you ever received from a teacher? Who was the teacher?

A: “For there is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.” – Shakespeare. A quote from Hamlet I learned in Ms. Guilarte’s AP literature class.

 

Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?

A: Sam Smith, Bruno Mars

 

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

A: My best friend Gracie, I’d meet her at Waffle House.

 

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

A: The Town Center. I like when they have bands perform and/or food truck Fridays.

 

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

A: Working in a Physical Therapy office.

 

Q: What show are you binge watching right now? 

A: Victorious

 

Q: Favorite month? holiday? and best single day on the calendar?

A: December, Thanksgiving, my birthday

 

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

A: My mom

 

Q: If you could go back over your entire school career what is one thing you would do different?

A: Not take AP chemistry OR AP macroeconomics

 

Q: Who or what do you miss the most right now?

A: The pool

 

Q: Were you involved in any sports or extra curricular activities?

A: Athletic training, soccer, NHS, Beta, peer leading, flag football

 

Q: What’s the first thing you want to do when this quarantine is over?

A: Go to the beach
