Rebekah Turner – North Gwinnett

Q: Please tell us about your current plans after high school. And what inspired you to choose this path?

A: I’m going to attend Georgia Southern and major in psychology. I’ve been fascinated by the human mind for as long as I can remember and I’m excited to learn everything there is to know. Go Eagles!

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

A: I have my wonderful parents and my amazing little sister Abi. Most of us enjoy playing video games for hours on end and it was a huge bonding point for my mom and me. We’re all about as crazy as can be but I wouldn’t ask for anything else.

Q: Where do you go to school?

A: North Gwinnett High School

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?

A: I love Rico’s World Kitchen because of the huge variety! And of course I’m a huge fan of Moore Road Chick-fil-A .

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

A: I believe Mr. Kevin Blankenship is the most interesting person I have ever met. I had him for 10th grade AP World and it was quite the ride. He made everyone laugh and was a great teacher.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

A: I would love to go to Italy primarily for the food. I love pasta and I can’t even imagine how much fun I would have devouring all of it in my near vicinity. I guess the Eiffel Tower would be cool too.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

A: My favorite movie is Unplanned because it has such a strong message. My favorite TV show is probably The Mentalist because it’s so funny and utilizes aspects of psychology.

Q: What’s the best advice you ever received from a teacher? Who was the teacher?

A: “Never look down on someone unless you’re helping them up” ~Reyna O’Leary NGHS

Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?

A: Carrie Underwood. Hands down. She’s amazing.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

A: I would definitely love to have lunch with Hugh Jackman. We would eat at Outback Steakhouse so he could surprise the waiters with his sensational Australian accent.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

A: I love how strongly our community loves Relay For Life. Whenever we have an event, there’s bound to be hundreds coming out for support. We’re all one big family here.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

A: I see myself finishing my masters degree and then buying a house with a beautiful wraparound porch and a cute little wooden swing.

Q: What show are you binge watching right now?

A: I am watching The Office for the first time! I enjoy Jim and Pam’s storyline the best!

Q: Favorite month? holiday? and best single day on the calendar?

A: I love April because that’s when it really starts to warm up again from the cold winter. My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving because I get to see all my family from far and wide to eat some really good food.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

A: My mom is the number one person who believes in me and makes me want to be better. She’s always been there for me and I know she always will be. I love her more than anything and I’m really going to miss her next year.

Q: If you could go back over your entire school career what is one thing you would do different?

A: I would practice my oboe more. I had a lot of potential but I didn’t practice enough to grow it. Right now I’m pretty much just riding on natural talent and not getting any better.

Q: Who or what do you miss the most right now?

A: I really miss my teachers. I was lucky to get some amazing and funny teachers this year and I’m sad I won’t get to finish the year out face to face with them. They made my senior year truly amazing.

Q: Were you involved in any sports or extra curricular activities?

A: I was heavily involved in Dance North and Marching Band.

Q: What’s the first thing you want to do when this quarantine is over?

A: I want to get fitted for my prom dress alterations because I KNOW I’m going to some sort of prom this summer. I’m not going to let it go that easily.
