Q: Please tell us about your current plans after high school. And what inspired you to choose this path?

A: I plan on attending The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. this fall to major in International Affairs with a concentration in International Economics, and either a minor in Linguistics or a second major in Political Science. I have always had a vested interest in all things relating to diplomacy and politics, so choosing this field and school came naturally to me.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

A: I’m an only child, so my family is just me and my parents. I’m inspired by how hard-working they are and how they’ve built a name for themselves after immigrating here.

Q: Where do you go to school?

A: North Gwinnett High School

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?

A: Tequila Mama, Famous Toastery, and Golden Seven.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

A: 100% the Chick-fil-A cow

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

A: I would love to just drop everything and go to Iceland. I’ve always dreamed of visiting because of hearing stories and seeing pictures of the raw natural beauty and the pristine and largely untouched landscape. It seems like the perfect place to go to reconnect with both the Earth and myself.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

A: Movie: Parasite / TV Show: Atypical

Q: What’s the best advice you ever received from a teacher? Who was the teacher?

A: When I was stressed out during the college application process, I was talking to my old chemistry teacher, Mrs. Hursey. She gave me a piece of advice that has still stuck with me today: “Bloom where you’re planted.” It impacted me a lot because I was all over the place between picking schools to apply to and potential majors/careers, and it really helped me put things into perspective.

Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?

A: 5 Seconds of Summer. I have been listening to them since 2012 and I have yet to hear a song I dislike or a song I can’t connect to on some level. The members have raw talent that is timeless and unwavering.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

A: I would love to have lunch with Michelle Obama. She’s a major inspiration to both myself and millions worldwide. We’d probably meet somewhere healthy (of course), so maybe Tropical Smoothie Café (I know it’s very casual, but there’s only so much healthy food in the South)

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

A: Something unique from our community I love is the sculptures in Town Center. I have loved seeing the new ones being installed from time to time and they make great conversation pieces, keep walks in the park interesting, and add an artistic dimension to the park.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

A: I see myself either working in a government office or gearing up for law school. I don’t know if I want to work for a while after undergrad or go straight into law school, so the next 5 to 10 years are still a large question mark.

Q: What show are you binge watching right now?

A: Dance Moms (a classic)

Q: Favorite month? holiday? and best single day on the calendar?

A: Best month is June, best holiday is Christmas, and the best day on the calendar is the 4th (month doesn’t matter)!

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

A: Pretty much everyone around me. I strongly feed into the mindset that I can learn from everyone I encounter and I can always be better, so I never truly become complacent in my abilities.

Q: If you could go back over your entire school career what is one thing you would do different?

A: Not take AP Physics. My junior year would have been at least a little better if I hadn’t; I honestly don’t know why I made myself take it knowing I don’t like the subject nor am I particularly good at it.

Q: Who or what do you miss the most right now?

A: My friends 🙁

Q: Were you involved in any sports or extra curricular activities?

A: Yes! At NGHS, I was in the marching band, as well as in clubs such as Tri-M, SHF, and UNICEF (just to name a few). Outside of school-related activities, I danced and played piano.

Q: What’s the first thing you want to do when this quarantine is over?

A: Go. To. The. MALL.
